About the service
Our Portable AC Gas Filling Service is for units that run but do not cool properly because of low refrigerant.
This service covers 1 ton, 1.5 ton and 2 ton portable ACs of any brand, for gas types R22, R32 or R410A. We do leak check, proper vacuum and controlled refrigerant charging as per model. not random gas topping. This protects the compressor and helps your portable AC cool closer to factory performance.
Typical signs you need gas checking.
-
Portable AC runs but air is mildly cool or not cool at all
-
Room takes too long to cool compared to before
-
Coil or pipe inside access panel shows ice
-
Unit cools for some time then blows normal air
-
Gas filling was done earlier and cooling dropped again
Our process
1. Cooling and symptom check
The technician runs the portable AC in cooling mode and checks.
-
Airflow and outlet temperature
-
Compressor start and running behaviour
-
Coil condition where access is possible
-
Error codes or unusual sounds
This helps confirm if low gas is likely or if there is some other problem.
2. Leak and visual inspection
With power off, the technician opens the service panel or access points and checks.
-
Visible copper tubes and joints
-
Coil surfaces for oil marks or heavy corrosion
-
Any earlier repair joints or tampered sections
If the unit is heavily rusted or has a big visible leak, you are informed before going ahead.
3. Pressure test . when required and possible
If the model allows gauge connection and a leak is suspected, a pressure test may be done to check for hidden leaks. Small joint leaks can sometimes be repaired. Major coil leaks or damaged piping are quoted separately.
4. Deep vacuuming of the system
A vacuum pump is connected to the service port. Air and moisture are removed until proper vacuum is reached. Skipping this step is a shortcut that leads to poor cooling and compressor damage, so we avoid that wherever the design allows.
5. Refrigerant charging as per rating
Gas is charged based on.
-
AC capacity. 1 ton, 1.5 ton or 2 ton
-
Gas type written on the name plate. R22 or R32 or R410A
-
Manufacturer guideline by pressure or weight
We do not mix gases and we do not change gas type unless the AC has been properly converted for that refrigerant.
6. Final cooling and safety check
After charging, the portable AC is tested again in cooling mode. The technician checks.
-
Outlet temperature and basic room cooling
-
Compressor sound and running ampere where possible
-
Coil behaviour and ice formation
-
Overall noise and vibration
If there is any non gas issue like weak compressor, fan problem or PCB fault, you are told clearly.
What we need from you
-
Portable AC placed where sides can be accessed
-
Working power socket and MCB access
-
Any past repair or gas filling history, if you know it
-
Basic idea of room size and usage pattern
-
Information if the unit is very old, badly rusted or previously opened by local repair
Our service promise
-
Gas filling support for 1 ton, 1.5 ton and 2 ton portable ACs
-
Correct refrigerant only. R22, R32 or R410A as per model
-
Leak check and vacuuming included where design allows. not shortcut “top up”
-
Transparent break up of labour, gas quantity and any leak repair
-
Honest advice when coil replacement or new unit makes more sense than repeated gas filling
Frequently asked questions
Q1. Will gas filling make my portable AC cool like new
If the only problem is low gas and the compressor and coils are healthy, cooling can come close to original.
If compressor is weak, coil is badly rusted or airflow is poor, improvement will be limited and the technician will tell you.
Q2. Is leak repair included in gas filling charges
Small tightening or minor correction at joints may be included.
Major brazing, coil repair or pipe replacement is always extra and is discussed before work.
Q3. Which gas will you use in my portable AC
We use the gas type mentioned on the rating sticker.
-
Some older models. R22
-
Most newer models. R32 or R410A
We never mix R22 with R32 or R410A and we do not convert gas type without proper modification.
Q4. Do all portable ACs support gas refilling
No. Some very basic or sealed designs do not have service ports or are not practical to repair. In that case, the technician will explain that gas filling is not feasible or not economical.
Q5. How long does gas filling take
On average 45 to 90 minutes, depending on access, leak checks and model design.
Q6. How long will the gas last after filling
If there is no active leak, gas can last for years.
If the coil or pipes are already weak or corroded, gas may escape again. In such cases, repeat refilling is not recommended and coil change or unit replacement is a better long term option.
